Integrated Products Digital Audience Manager

General Position Description:

The Integrated Products Digital Manager at San Antonio Express-News is responsible for creating revenue-generating digital packages from print and digital media sources while working with the local advertising team to meet business goals. This manager creates new revenue streams within the business by understanding audience growth potential for new products developed and researched with advertising and marketing teams. They manage overall audience development goals for mySA.com and Expressnews.com on social media and search using both editorial and sponsored content strategies.

The Integrated Products Digital Audience Manager is an individual contributor, professional-level, exempt role, reporting to the Digital Audiences Director with a dotted line to the Marketing and New Business Director.


Primary job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

·         Work with local advertising team on new and innovative products and packaging to generate revenue growth for the business teams

·         Identify key areas within communities to grow targeted audience – readership as well as advertising revenue.

·         Managing audience development strategies for major audience channels, including social and search.

·         Solicit and respond to Sales Team feedback

·         Create audience-growing digital products from print and digital media sources

·         Collaborate with vendors and clients (both internal and external)

·         Curate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content that is packaged and promoted in a way that generates engagement

·         Understand different ways to tell a story, particularly visually which will lead to additional sales revenue and audience growth

·         Promote and distribute content on social media

·         Curate engaging content products to increase digital view count and reach

·         Build positive working relationships with newsroom staff, management, and marketing

·         Demonstrate a willingness to enthusiastically accept many varied projects and new responsibilities as assigned

·         Must perform other duties as assigned by supervisors, managers, or directors


Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

·         Ability to balance editorial integrity while meeting revenue goals

·         Clever headline writer that gets readers to click

·         Understanding of web metrics and analytical tools to measure audience behavior

·         Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker

·         Demonstrate a willingness to enthusiastically accept many varied projects and new responsibilities as assigned

·         Persistence when encountering obstacles to keep projects moving to completion

·         Ability to maintain composure and work well under pressure.

·         Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly

·         Schedule flexibility to include some nights and/or weekends

·         Bachelor’s Degree: Required, Preferred: Journalism

·         Minimum of 5 Years of related experience
