PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:  Develops, repairs and tests press equipment and other industrial equipment, to include electrical and mechanical components by performing the following duties:
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
 
  1. Converses with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown, and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems.
  2. Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts.
  3. Aligns, adjusts, and calibrates equipment according to specifications.  Calibrates testing instruments.
  4. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
  5. Analyzes and interprets test data.
  6. Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  7. Drafts detail drawings or sketches to request parts fabrication.
  8. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery.
  9. Dismantles machines or equipment to examine parts for defect or to replace a defective part.
  10. Maintains and lubricates machines, HVAC systems, pressroom motor controls, and other pressroom equipment.
  11. Monitors computers that display operations of HVAC systems, pressroom motor controls, and other pressroom equipment.
  12. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  13. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve problems.
  14. Installs new equipment or removes old equipment.
  15. Repairs electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts, and reassembles equipment.

Experience, Skills, Licenses, Certification, Education Required: 

  1. Prior experience maintaining and repairing HVAC, electrical systems, electronic equipment, and mechanical equipment is required.
  2. Ability to react to change productively.
