The Houston Chronicle is looking for an Automotive Sales Manager who will be responsible for overall revenue growth. They will achieve by leading and managing a digital and print focused sales team driving ROI solutions to our retail clients. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales staff in the field to optimize audience based solutions, leading with a digital first example and to drive revenue results.


WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?

  • Teaming with the field sales account executives to develop an effective account coverage strategy, daily activity plan and customer strategy. 
  • Coaching and developing the skills of sales team. 
  • Actively managing the identification and progression of the team's sales opportunities in an assigned territory. 
  • Committing to and delivering results based on your monthly targets and forecasts.
  • Generate and sustain a spirit of team success.
  • Embeds coaching & feedback in everyday conversations with reps, making coaching a regular activity. Dedicates ample time to coaching top performers to further improve their skills, performance and build loyalty. Provides opportunities during Team Meetings for Best Practice Sharing and Learning and Development.
  • Has a strong understanding of market competitors; develops strategies for selling effectively against the competition.
  • Is able to work collaboratively with peers, senior management, and subordinates. Gains trust, support, and consensus of teammates for new ideas, etc.

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Above average sales closer.
  • Minimum 2-5 years proven record of successfully leading in a goal-oriented, highly accountable environment.
  • Exceptional coaching and leadership skills. Leading sales staff to achieve revenue goals and high performance.
  • A 4-year business degree preferred. 
  • Ability to work with teams while treating clients, both internal and external, with dignity and respect. 
  • Sales Force Experience
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance to set the stage for sales success.
  • Experience in the newspaper industry is a big plus!
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both written and oral. 
  • Experience managing PPC, SEM and affiliate programs.
  • Strong understanding of current online marketing concepts, strategy and best practices.
