Hearst, one of the nation’s most diversified media, information and service companies, is seeking a high energy technical project manager responsible for managing transformation projects for multiple business units. The project manager will work through all phases of a project involving all technical groups as appropriate. The project manager will also manage business and technology stakeholder communications and coordinate activities handled by project participants who are working on other programs at the same time.

Projects include, but are not limited to: Directory services migrations, technical refresh, office moves, new technology deployments, business integrations, cloud migrations, security projects and more. The technical project manager should be familiar with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies in project delivery.

Required Skills:

  • Superior communication skills

  • Ability to translate technical requirements and solutions into business language and back

  • Skills to work with business stakeholders to understand application lifecycle planning and document objectives and requirements.

  • Managing requirements and scope definitions, as well as changes in project requirements and deliverables

  • Experience developing, maintaining and distributing (as appropriate) standard project management deliverables for the successful migration of applications including: requirements, migration plan, project schedule, issues & action items log, meeting minutes, risks assessment and contingencies

  • Ability to partner with service desk, training and operations teams to create support and transition plans

  • Demonstrable competency anticipating problems and complications, and formulating solutions so as not to impede the progress of the project

  • Tracking project costs including procurement and manpower burn

  • Ensuring the solution meets the project’s requirements and holding engineers meeting the needs of the customer

  • Managing the flow of information to all stakeholders of the project from sponsors to users impacted

  • Engaging the right teams to meet the needs of the project

  • Providing concise and meaningful status reporting within the defined framework of the PMO

Desired Experience: 

  • Three years experience as an infrastructure project manager, handling a variety of projects related to network, telephony, systems, storage, security, desktops, office moves, data center buildouts, cloud migrations, or other relevant infrastructure work.
  • Eight years experience in information technology, preferably in an infrastructure-related group

  • Experience with Microsoft Project Online

  • Skilled in requirements gathering, project scheduling, budget tracking, issue and risk management
