The Houston Chronicle/Hearst Corporation is looking for a hands-on HR Coordinator.  Under the direction of the HR Director, the HR Coordinator will perform data entry and maintenance for the company's Human Resources Information System (Oracle) in support of all Hearst Texas Newspaper properties. 

 

This responsibility generally, but not limited, includes inputting employee information and will meet a range of standards including federal and state requirements.  At all times, strict standards for data  integrity must be upheld.  The incumbent will work with more senior-level staff on transactions and projects across a wide range of purposes.  This role will also serve as a link between various departments within the company, ranging from Payroll to management.  Both data collection and consultation is essential, including communicating advice regarding policies and guidelines.

 

What will you do? 

  • Process all HR transactions in the Oracle system and submit new hire paperwork and employee changes in support of all the Hearst Texas Newspaper properties
  • Coordinate and monitor information entered in the Oracle system
  • Maintain discretion in matters of confidentiality
  • Provide Oracle training if required or as needed to users
  • Conduct audits of HR data to preserve its integrity & accuracy, by generating weekly census reports for each property

What will it take to be successful?

  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • Oracle HRIS experience a must
  • 3+ years administrative experience with strong data entry skills.  Experience in the HR field is preferred.
  • This is a hands-on, individual contributor role.  Must be able to multi-task on a daily basis.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to serve multiple customers and manage a wide range of transactions
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

The Houston Chronicle, one of the largest newspapers in the United States, was founded in 1901 by a young journalist, Marcellus Foster. Mr. Foster published his first edition on October 14 of that same year. In exchange for part interest, Houston businessman, Jesse Jones built a 10 story Chronicle building in downtown Houston.
