Oracle Cloud Solution Administrator

The Oracle Cloud System Administrator is responsible for managing the multiple instances of cloud infrastructure services in conjunction with the IT department. The professional also leads, oversees, and maintains, multi-user computing environments as per the requirements of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle virtual cloud instances.
  • Supports Oracle cloud servers including security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Ownership of monthly patching for cloud hosted SaaS applications.
  • Works with internal staff and 3rd party vendors to update and communicate environment maintenance schedules, refresh schedules, and outages.
  • Monitors and communicates system metrics and works with internal staff and 3rd party vendors to resolve any issues.
  • Provide end-to-end application solutions using available technology stack

Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Ability to provision and manage VMs on Windows and Linux
  • Experience supporting application and database servers
  • Strong technical knowledge of virtual machines (IaaS, Writing Code (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS)).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise security
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Ability to think critically; to recognize and anticipate a problem (technical/operational) and to identify and implement the best solution in a timely manner.
  • Ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of Hearst’s information architecture and information management methodology.
  • Self-starter, self-driven, self-management of multiple concurrent assignments and apply proper prioritization.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a built-in desire to learn and take on new tasks

Education and Training

  • Technical undergraduate degree preferred; math, computer science, engineering, or related discipline with an information technology focus.
  • 3 – 5 years’ working experience in managing Oracle cloud operations infrastructure
