Job Description:

The Clinical Pharmacist is within the Drug Interactions group located in the Indianapolis, IN office.  This group is responsible for obtaining, analyzing, interpreting, and applying source information on drug-drug, drug-food, and pharmacogenomics data in national and international regions where FDB is doing business.

Works independently under the broad supervision of a team lead, supervisor or manager. Researches source drug-drug, drug-food, and pharmacogenomics data, makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results for possible inclusion within knowledge base content. Directs and performs data entry tasks and verifies data entry performed by team members. Able to independently plan and prioritize order of completion for work assigned. Reliably completes assigned tasks. Participates in ongoing education efforts relative to existing and new work procedures to be performed by self and other team members. Provides in-services and presentations to internal and external customers as necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

  •         Researches source drug-drug, drug-food, and pharmacogenomics data, makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results for possible inclusion within knowledge base content in a manner consistent with stated editorial policy
  •         Directs and performs data entry tasks and verifies data entry performed by team members
  •         Able to independently plan and prioritize order of completion for work assigned
  •         Work performed meets or exceeds stated product maintenance standards
  •         Maintains a thorough understanding of the risks and advantages of key data entry forms
  •         Trains other employees on execution of work procedures performed by self and team members on a regular basis
  •         Actively contributes to process and quality improvement efforts
  •         Is able to provide or participate in in-services and presentations to internal and external customers
  •         Respond knowledgeably and diplomatically to a variety of customer inquiries through FDBs customer support forms
  •         Successfully able to cover department management responsibilities as assigned in times of direct manager’s absence
  •         Participates in key customer meetings representing the Data Knowledge Group and First Databank (FDB) as assigned

Requirements:

  •         Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited U.S. College of Pharmacy
  •         Actively licensed in at least one State as a pharmacist
  •         3-5 years of recent experience as a clinical pharmacist or equivalent
  •         Be able to demonstrate knowledge of drug-drug interactions including pharmacokinetic mechanisms that are impacted by pharmacogenomics

Preferred Skills/Desirable Characteristics:

  •         Residency preferred with BCPS or BCPPS highly desirable
  •         Effective verbal and written skills
  •         Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively work in a team structure
  •         Drug Information analysis skills- ability to gather and analyze a large repository of source information; derive evidence-based conclusions that met editorial policy inclusion criteria (e.g, meets clinical significance criteria)
  •         Active membership in a pharmacy-related professional organization is preferred and is encouraged after hire
