Hearst Connecticut Marketing Group is proud to announce the creation of a new Sales Trainer to cover the Connecticut market. Based out of our Norwalk, CT office this position is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of initial and continuous sales training. 

Our Rockstar sales trainer is the first point of contact for sales and customer performance managers in a fast-paced environment. This role is key to an outstanding onboarding experience and successful new hire ramp up. The sales trainer will have ownership of training new products and product changes, ensuring that advertising account executives can quickly master and sell our entire suite of digital marketing products, sales tools, and sales skills.  The position will also be responsible for tracking/reporting on new hire performance and certification and working with Advertising Directors to achieve new hire sales goals.

Reporting to the Direct, Sales Enablement & Operations the sales trainer will develop curriculum and deliver process training that aligns with business objectives and enhances performance quality. The sales trainer will have a deep understanding of the media industry, business objectives, and digital products and will work closely with subject matter experts to continuously improve training content and deliver results.

Focus Areas

·         Sales Strategy (Challenger Sale)

·         Core Product Training (Newspaper, Magazine, SEO, SEM, Social, Programmatic, CTV/OTT, Video, Email marketing and more!)

·         Sales Technology/Tools (Salesforce, Mactive/AdBase, AdMall, Buzzboard, Google Analytics, Facebook Creative Hub, and more!)


·         Conduct our three-week initial sales training and ensure penetration of digital marketing products, traditional print, media planning, games, and our variety of sales tools.

·         Creates and insures delivery of targeted sales skill training (Challenger Sale). Track new hire performance within their first 12-months and report analysis of success and problem areas.

·         Plays an active role in developing action plans to support achievement of goals. 

·         Other ad-hoc training as needed.

·         Serves as the “go-to” knowledge-based resource for all advertising account executive. 

·         Rides with our outside advertising account executives to assess skill level, provide example of effective selling and help close sales. 

·         Helps all new hires integrate into our family through management of our Hearst Mentorship Program.


·         A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree is required.

·         5+ years in an outside sales, client experience, or learning & development capacity.

·         Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to motivate in front of a classroom or one-on-one are a must-have.

·         Quantifiable experience with classroom training, curriculum creation, e-learning, and one-on-one direction preferably within a tech, sales, or media environment.

·         Strong analytical skills to analyze sales data to identify trends.

·         Experience with Join.Me, Salesforce, Learning Management Systems

·         Experience role playing sales calls, cold calling, customer interaction scenarios, and negotiations

·         Ability to work independently, possessing a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation


·         Experience creating SCORM files for Learning Management System

·         Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on Development, Training, and/or Education

·         Digital product knowledge (SEO, SEM, Social, Programmatic, CTV/OTT, Video, Email marketing)
