We must be alarmingly enterprising and startlingly original. We must be honest and fearless. And we must spark a revolution.  William Randolph Hearst, 1887

Hearst has quietly become one of the most profitable and diversified media and information companies in the U.S. with more than 360 businesses. In addition to its premier portfolio of 85+ news brands in print and digital (i.e., Connecticut Post, SFGate.com, Houston Chronicle, NHRegister.com), Hearst also has significant interests in magazines (300+ publications), television (A&E, ESPN, 31 TV stations), digital marketing services (LocalEdge), and more.  Hearst Connecticut Media Group (HCMG), a division of Hearst, has achieved record profit growth and built a reputation for delivering award-winning news content and innovative digital advertising products to businesses of all sizes.

Our world-class local and regional sales organization has been integral to this success, and we are seeking an experienced Director of Product Marketing to fuel our continued growth for many years to come.  This analytical and passionate marketer will develop and execute new growth initiatives focused on key vertical, geographical and audience segments within the Connecticut market.  Initiatives may include developing messaging and positioning for a new digital ad experience, creating sales enablement assets (i.e. sales presentations, case studies), producing thought leadership pieces, building pricing models, etc.

As a newly formed position and marketing lead for the overall HCMG organization, this role represents a unique opportunity to build out a highly strategic function from scratch and have a direct impact on sales growth.  Key elements to success in this role include strong collaboration with sales, data oriented strategic planning, intellectual curiosity for local market and business trends, exceptional positioning development skills, and a highly motivated self-starter mindset.

·         Identify Revenue-Generating Opportunities:

o   Contribute to the development and positioning of new opportunities to bring to the marketplace including, but not limited to, cross-platform ad products, third-party partners or vendors, events or experiences.

o   In collaboration with the VP, Ad Sales and SVP, Digital Ad Sales, proactively create market-ready sales packages inclusive of supporting research, value proposition, and pricing strategies.

o   Establish first-to-market, cross-platform ad product experiences that will serve as compelling thought-starters for client conversations and result in closed business.

o   Work lockstep with editorial team to develop sellable content franchises, series or annual tentpoles.

o   Own product launch function: plan, create and lead the launch of new product releases or service offerings, and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.

·         Assist with New Business Development:

o   Lead internal brainstorm sessions with all essential stakeholders to determine and combat product pain points through positioning, packaging or execution.

o   Respond to client RFP’s with customized, measurable, creative solutions.

o   Assist sales team in presenting creative solutions to client.

o   Oversee activation and fulfillment of demand generation campaigns on an as-needed basis; including events, inbound lead program, list building, lead nurturing, etc.
